The area of Polis Chrysochous is located approximately 24 miles north west of Paphos at the top of Cyprus in the foothills of the Troodos mountain range and next to the beautiful Akamas region. It remains a beautiful, quiet and unspoilt area with miles of deserted sand beaches, stunning scenery, plus plenty of small hotels, apartments and lovely private villas for a relaxing holiday, and there is a great selection of restaurants and tavernas, many of which specialise in local caught fish. It is a great base for exploring the Akamas Peninsular, the small towns of Polis and Latchi (Latsi) and the many villages in the Troodos mountains but still only a 30-40 minute drive from the bustling resort of Paphos.
Relatively few weddings take place here in comparison to Paphos, but there are some lovely locations which are definitely worth considering. if you prefer to have your holiday in the busier Paphos area, then you can still have your perfect wedding day in Polis and we will arrange transport there and back for you and your guests.
There are several lovely locations for weddings in the area, and in addition Polis has some gorgeous beachside villas where you could also hold your wedding either in the villa or on the adjacent beach.
Polis Town Hall weddings take place in Ayios Andronikos Park which is right opposite the Town Hall. This is a small attractive park with a semi-circular wooden gazebo and views over the valley to the distant mountains. This is a cost effective venue for a wedding as there are no venue hire fees to pay. The Town Hall provides a simple decorated archway and white covered ceremony table or we can provide alternatives for you if you prefer. Drinks can be served here after the ceremony if you wish.
The small picturesque port of Latchi is about 2 miles along the coast from Polis, it is charming port with plenty of great tavernas where can can sample beautiful locally caught fresh fish. You can tie the know of the deck overlooking the harbour with a panoramic view of the sea and colourful boats.
This area is called Limni Mines, and it has a really long dock where you can hold your wedding ceremony and optionally drinks after the ceremony. The dock goes right out into the sea so you are completely surrounded by the beautiful blue Mediterranean which will look fantastic in your wedding photos.
According to local legend this is where the Goddess of Beauty and Love enjoyed bathing in the warm waters of the sea, and it is certainly one of the most scenically stunning places in the area. it is located right in the middle of the Akamas nature reserve so is totally unspoilt and one of the most spectacular gems in the area. This family run restaurant offers the usual great Cypriot hospitality, good food and private area for receptions which as totally spectacular views over the sea.
There are two possible locations for the wedding. The wooden deck (which has recently been painted white) is situated on the grass next to the restaurant is by far the most popular choice with its unrivalled views over the sea, After the ceremony it is a short walk to the restaurant for drinks and the reception meal.
Next to the Baths of Aphrodite is small botanical garden with a nature trail leading to the actual Baths of Aphrodite. Within the gardens is a round gazebo which can be used as the alternative wedding venue. It has series of natural steps for guests to sit on during the ceremony.
The Baths of Aphrodite Restaurant has everything you could possibly ant in a reception venue. Good food, an absolutely stunning location and views and a private terrace for you and your guests.
The Polis area is blessed with some fabulous beachside villas so you can have a wedding ceremony in the gardens of your villa or on the beach by the villa, and if you wish we can also arrange a catered reception at the villa too, or we can arrange it at one of the many local restaurants in the area so you have plenty of options..
